EXTENSION OF DEADLINE FOR THE 1ST C3S ESSAY CONTEST
Note the new date: Thursday, September 25, 2014
The Chennai Centre for China Studies (C3S) which was started in 2008 as a not-for-profit think tank is partly funded by the Ministry of External Affairs of India (MEA). C3S proposes to conduct an essay competition for the PG/UG students and civil service aspirants in South India to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Panchsheel which has been the bulwark of an important foreign policy guiding India-China relations. The future of Sino-Indian engagement hinges largely on economic initiatives that would help sustain the economic growth and prosperity on both sides. While China is now an established economy and is amongst the top three economies of the world, India too is moving slowly in that direction. So the thrust has to be in the economic areas which should pave the way for greater mutually beneficial strategic relations. In short, the overall purpose of this essay competition is to create awareness among the student community about Sino-Indian relations and its implications for India with specific reference to economic engagement and opportunities for the two Asian Powers.
