The objective of this issue brief is to address India’s concerns with the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). The RCEP received a renewed push Post-Mamallapuram Meet between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. This issue brief seeks to highlight areas India needs to focus on resolving its structural issues and push second-generation reforms to make its trade more competitive and export-oriented. It addresses questions on how can India despite negotiations for RCEP can protect its domestic industries and trade interests. Towards the end, the Issue Brief will conclude with policy prescriptions for India.
